Honda Accord

The Honda Accord has been manufactured continuously since its debut in 1976. It was the first Japanese car produced in the United States, starting in 1982, and has become an American favorite. It has always been known for its fuel efficiency, as that was one of its initial purposes since it was introduced during the gas crunches of the 1970’s. the Accord name is meant to reflect the engineers determination to create harmony between the car, nature and society.

The Accord has undergone many design changes in its run. It was first introduced as a hatchback , then moved to a mid sized sedan platform, and now is large enough since the 2008 edition to be considered a small full sized vehicle. The exterior of the car has had many upgrades as mentioned, but the interior has also undergone its share of changes. The original interiors were Spartan. The original included just what was needed to operate the vehicle. Since it was built on a need for fuel economy it shed every ounce that was not necessary.

The new addition of the Honda Accord began showing up on car lots in 2006. The new models include such offerings as daytime running lights, heated side mirrors (standard for the EX models), vehicle stability assist, traction control, and brake assist as options that had not previously been available in the US market. For the interior some minor cosmetic changes were accomplished along with upgrades to the GPS system and a new revised maintenance reminder system which takes into account the type of use the car gets. Airflow characteristics with both engine types so that horse power was increased.

The newest upgrades for the Honda Accord for the 2009 model year include a longer and wider wheel base, which increases the interior space. A hybrid version is no longer offered, but Honda has introduced a new diesel engine for 2009 which offers better fuel economy. Another factor that makes the Honda Accord a great buy is that the safety features of the new vehicle have been updated. Besides the features already mentioned there are also active front head restraints for all models. It was rated as a top safety pick due to its perfect safety scores.
